Tryst Vocabulary List

  • cad : an ill-bred man, esp. one who behaves in a dishonorable or irresponsible way toward women.
  • wits : ingenuity, intelligence or brains
  • woo : to seek the favor, affection, or love of, esp. with a view to marriage.
  • fleece : coat of wool that covers a sheep or similar animal or to fraud someone and steel money.
  • desert : to leave (a person, place, etc.) without intending to return, esp. in violation of a duty, promise, or the like: He deserted his wife.
  • drop names : Refer to important persons as acquaintances in order to impress the listener.
  • fabricate : to fake or invent.
  • pull off : To convince.
  • seamstress : a woman whose occupation is sewing.
  • milliner : a person who designs, makes, or sells hats for women.
  • plain-looking : ordinary.
  • feigns : To give a false appearance of.
  • taken aback : surprised and disconcerted.
  • reel in : To catch/trap.
  • blandishments : pale.
  • blanch : to become white; turn pale: The very thought of going made him blanch
  • comsummate : to complete (the union of a marriage) by the first marital sexual intercourse.
  • brooch : a clasp or ornament having a pin at the back for passing through the clothing and a catch for securing the point of the pin.
